2021 Pharmaceutical Crystallization Summit

Breaking Drug Development Bottlenecks via Enabling Technologies

Physical & chemical properties of drug substance (DS) have major impacts on the formulation process & Drug Product (DP) properties or quality attributes. The final step in an API synthesis is usually crystallization or precipitation, serving as both purification and isolation. This international conference gathers industrial and academic subject matter experts to discuss their works related to DS crystallization and manufacturing opportunities (highlighted below)for new drug development programs.

5 Areas of opportunities identified by the Enabling Technologies Consortium (ETC)

(1) crystal structure prediction, (2) crystal shape prediction, (3) solubility assessment, (4) purification, and (5) analytical technologies

5 Areas of potential innovations identified by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM)

(1) co-processed API’s, (2) process intensification, (3) additive manufacturing, (4) adv. process control & automation, (5)modular systems
